Since 2015, I’ve had the joy of working as a Wedding Celebrant and Officiant, creating and performing ceremonies in Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, and surrounding areas in North Carolina. My passion lies not just in marrying couples but in celebrating the heart of why they’re saying “I do.” As a creative writer, I craft 15- to 25-minute ceremonies that bring laughter, happy tears, and even moments of reflection. A wedding ceremony should feel like a true celebration—maybe I can help make yours unforgettable!
As an ordained non-denominational minister, I work with couples of all backgrounds—religious, spiritual, or non-religious. Most of the couples I work with identify as non-religious and want a heartfelt, meaningful ceremony filled with love. I hold a Bachelor of Divinity degree from the Universal Brotherhood, which grants me the legal authority to officiate weddings in North Carolina and 48 other states.
I am a highly trained ceremony professional, extensively educated in the art of ceremony by the Celebrant Foundation & Institute. Their rigorous, college-level coursework sets the gold standard for Celebrants, ensuring we start our careers as master co-creators and performers of ceremonies that truly reflect each couple's unique needs, beliefs, and personalities. This means your ceremony can be as fun, creative, and joyful as you are—with no "rules" to follow. Together, we’ll design a celebration that’s all about you and your love story!
Absolutely! You deserve to work with someone who wholeheartedly accepts and celebrates who you are. I collaborate with each couple to craft a ceremony using language that feels authentic to them and reflects their values. My modern, fresh, and fun ceremonies proudly embrace gender equality and fluidity.
Once you book me for a Romantic Elopement or Micro-wedding, I’ll send you a mini-questionnaire to help personalize your ceremony. Your ceremony will include heartfelt words about love and marriage, vows, a ring exchange, and the pronouncement. The process is simple—just make sure you’ve obtained your marriage license from the Register of Deeds!
We’ll start with a video call or in-person meeting to get to know each other—it’s usually full of laughter because feeling comfortable together is so important! Once you’ve signed your contract and paid my fee, I’ll give you some “homework”: a questionnaire to fill out separately. This lets you share your love story, what you adore about each other, and what this commitment means to you. Using your answers and our conversation, I’ll craft a personalized ceremony that weaves in your love story and any fun rituals you’d like.
For a Custom Ceremony, I strongly recommend (and gently insist!) having a rehearsal, which is why it’s included in my fee. If your venue isn’t available, don’t worry—we just need a space where we can create a “front area,” practice walking down a pretend aisle, and arrange everyone in their spots. I’ve held rehearsals in city parks, living rooms, condo party rooms, and even restaurants. A little preparation goes a long way in making sure everyone feels relaxed and confident on your wedding day, and a rehearsal—no matter the location—makes all the difference.
Absolutely! This is YOUR wedding, so you can choose exactly what feels right for you. You can repeat a few lines after me, write and share your own vows, or simply stick to a heartfelt "I do." The choice is yours!
As a general rule, I limit my travel to within 40 miles of my home in Holly Springs.
While it’s never happened before, I’m prepared just in case. I have a network of ordained and experienced colleagues who are more than capable of delivering your ceremony with the same care and excellence. Since your ceremony will already be fully written, one of my trusted colleagues would step in seamlessly to present and perform the script we’ve created together.
Don’t stress over the small stuff—your attitude is the #1 factor that will shape your experience. I’ve seen couples let minor hiccups derail their day, and I’ve seen others laugh and roll with the exact same challenges. The truth is, your wedding day probably won’t go exactly as planned, but being able to let go of the little things and focus on what truly matters—this incredible person you get to share your life with—makes all the difference. Think of your wedding day as a preview of your marriage. You can’t control the weather, other people, or every tiny detail, but with your partner by your side, you can handle anything. And that’s what it’s all about.
To get your marriage license in North Carolina, you must apply at the Register of Deeds office in any county within 60 days of your wedding date. The license costs $60, and both of you need to appear in person with valid ID (such as a driver’s license, birth certificate, or passport) and your social security cards (or W-2 forms). The license is valid for 60 days. After your wedding, I will mail both copies back to the Register of Deeds office where you obtained the license for recording. Once recorded, you can request certified copies as proof of your marriage. Some counties provide an order form at the time of application, or you can download the necessary information and forms from the county’s website. You can find all North Carolina Register of Deeds offices here.
You’ll need two witnesses for your ceremony, and your photographer can count as one of them. Witnesses must be at least 18 years old. If you’re unable to provide witnesses for your Simple or Romantic Elopement, I can arrange for them to be present for an additional fee.
Add an answer to this item. The sooner a couple reaches out to me about their wedding, the more relaxed and enjoyable the process of preparing the ceremony can be. On average, most couples contact me 3 to 9 months in advance, giving us plenty of time to create something truly special. That said, I’m no stranger to last-minute planning—I’ve crafted ceremonies with as little as 7 days' notice! While it’s not ideal, I understand that life can be unpredictable. Exception: If you’re booking me for an elopement, legal signing, or micro-wedding, shorter notice is absolutely fine. I’m happy to accommodate your timeline!
Once you decide to hire me, I’ll prepare a contract and invoice and send them to you via email, along with a link to an online payment portal. You can pay using a credit card, Venmo, Cash App, or Zelle. Your date will be officially reserved once you’ve signed the contract and completed the payment.
